Being flexible and still finding adventure (Day 7)

Penzance to Mousehole and back again

This morning when we woke up, it was sheets of rain and wind from the window. We were intending to hike the most exposed sections today. We also couldn’t handle the wind and rain on the cliff sides again so we made a change. We hiked the last section today, and easy six mile section and then tomorrow we are going to backtrack to the part we missed today.

Our walk today was leisurely, mostly on tarmac along the sea wall.

Nasturtiums everywhere.
Also nettles. Ric calls the most revered plant in Cornwall. We’ve suffered a few nettle stings during the week.

We arrived in Mousehole, a lovely little village with a long history.

Something called a lido — a swimming hole that fills up in high tide. This one is a kiddy pool built in the 30s.

When we returned to Penzance we actually saw the sun! And it was a lovely evening.

This is also a lido built in the 30s. And it is huge.
This is the pool, filled with seawater. I bought us tickets to take a swim, but I’m not sure we will make it back tomorrow in time.

So tomorrow, hopefully we are back to a beautiful day on the trail. I’m hoping for a bit of sun, but mostly just less rain.

Total mileage today: 9 miles
